What’s the difference between a Vegan, Vegetarian, Pescatarian and Flexitarian diet

Have you ever invited someone to your house for a meal and then found out that they follow a particular diet? We're here to help you understand each diet.

A vegan is someone who doesn't eat or consume any product that comes from an animal, this includes eggs, dairy, meat, fish and honey. Cooking for someone following a vegan diet for the first time needn't be difficult as many of the foods we already eat are vegan. For example, fruit, vegetables, carbohydrates, pulses and more! Our friends at Carnation have some great recipes to help you with a vegan dessert. Click here to view their recipes.

A vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat any meat or fish. All our sauces from India and Malaysia are vegetarian so you can use them in cooking or put them on the table as a condiment when cooking for a vegetarian friend. Click here to see our full range.

Pescatarians are like vegetarians however they do eat fish. This gives you loads of opportunities to get creative, why not leave the Cod and try Dover Sole or Halibut for something a little bit different.

Flexitarians eat some meat, seafood, dairy and eggs. Our MAGGI® So Juicy Recipe Mixes make cooking for a flexitarian easy, and they'll be super impressed by the flavour. Click here to learn more about these products.
